Monica was the DOP and Camera Operator in charge of capturing this self defense training with 13 women from Uzbekistan. This heartfelt weekend was full of empowerment and education on how to combat domestic violence both emotionally and physically.  The environment of this project was a particular sensitive and difficult one, requiring Monica to operate with a minimal production footprint, use intuition on when to capture and when to leave the room to allow space for sensitive moments, and build both trust and meaningful relationships with the women being filmed while navigating language barrier.
